General Questions

How do I add my business to this directory? Click the "Start Page" to the left.

I'm not sure what category to list my business in? Use this chart to help.

How do I make changes to my listing? You will receive an email once the listing has been posted. The quickest way to make changes is to save this email and reply to it. Otherwise, you can use the "Change Listing" link in the menu to the right. We don't have a limit on the number of changes, but please don't bombard us with changes every month.

How long does it take for my listing to be posted? Just depends on demand. If it is slow then it could be within hours. If we're slammed then it might be a week or so. Listings are posted in this order: Premier, Value, Basic + info, BasicLX, Basic. If you've purchased a Premier or Value listing, the clock won't start ticking on the year long listing until it has been posted.

Are directory listing on you site crawled? You've got a great PR, but I can't seem to find any of your vendors when I do a Google search for "party-wedding.info" and vendor name. I don't think there is anything "causing this".  We're not too concerned with searches for specific vendor names as our internal search works well for that.  Also, if someone's already got the vendor's name then they really don't need our directory to find them. 

Our SEO strategy is going for the broader more generic search terms that are much harder to obtain and generate much more traffic.  Keywords like:  wedding guide, wedding planner, san francisco wedding guide, DC wedding guide, etc.  People searching for these terms probably don't know where to start in their planning and once they find our directory then they are only two clicks away from viewing local vendors.
 
That being said, Google and other engines crawl our site almost everyday.  At the time of typing this 6,365 of our 6,783 pages are indexed in Google.  The pages not indexed are probably new and will be soon.  We also submit updated sitemap.xml files monthly.  Last month party-wedding.info was found via 9,393 different keyword combinations in search engines.

I have three companies all wedding and party related, can I list all three?

  • If you have a separate phone number for each company then you could add 3 Basic Listing for free.
  • If you have a separate website (and domain) for each company then you could add 3 BasicLX listings for free.
  • If you want a Basic + info Listing for each then it would be $19.99 each or $59.97 total.
  • If you want a Value Listing for all three the it would be $49.99 each or $149.97 total for one year.
  • If you want a Premier Listing for all three then it would be $99.99 each or $299.97 total for one year.

You'd have to place a separate order for each listing.

Will I get a user ID and password? No. Like all you need in life is another user ID and password. This is a human powered Party and Wedding Directory. All submissions are read, reviewed and posted by real warm blooded humans.

I want my listing to be in ALL CAPS. Sorry, no can do...unless it is an acronym in which case the letters will be separated by periods. You may be trying to get your listing to stick out by using ALL CAPS, but posting/typing in ALL CAPS is considered "yelling" and rude. It also makes for an ugly and hard to read webpage. We just won't allow it.

How do I know my credit card info is safe with your company? Since we use PayPal and Google Checkout to process payment, your credit card information is never passed onto us. The funds are just transfered to our PayPal/Google account. These are both tested and trusted ways to make internet payments.

 

Basic (free) Listing Questions

Can I list my business in more than one category? Not with free listings. We only allow one free listing per vendor. Otherwise the directory would be a mess. Please don't send us multiple submissions for free listings. We'll post the first one. Any additional submissions for the same company or phone number will be ignored, but you can buy as many Basic + info, Value or Premier Listings as you like.

Can I list my domain name in a "Basic" Party and Wedding Listing? No. We'll add your listing anyway, but in order to list your domain name or get linked you must at least provide a link exchange (BasicLX Listing). It's only fair, don't ya think?

I'd like to add a description of my business. You can describe you business/service in the "Business Name" or "Comments" sections. We'll try to add as much as we can. 50 or so characters are all that'll fit and we reserve the right to edit for spelling, grammar or anything else that might seem inappropriate.

How long will my listing remain on this website? Basic Listings are not permanent. We'd like to clean them out every couple of years. You can always re-submit if your listing has been deleted. The main reason for this is that Basic Listings are hard to police and review. We simply don't have the resources to call every one listed to see if their number has changed or if they're still in business. I highly recommend that you go with at least a BasicLX listing as they will remain active for as long as your website is online and our link is present.

 

BasicLX (link exchange) Listing Questions

Note: We no longer exchange links with MySpace, webs.com, facebook pages or other social networking sites and blogs. We may also refuse a link exchange if you're using a free website service that enables pop-up advertising. We do, however, have a MySpace Page and would be happy to add you as one of our friends.

Do I have to use the link that the copy/paste code creates on my site? No. You can create a link anyway you like so that it fits into your website's style. The code we provide is just an option and we've tried to make it as small as possible. As long as there is a working link is our main priority...just make sure that the link can be found by navigating from you home page or whatever page we're linking to.

Does the link have to be on my home page? No. You can put the link on any page you want on your website as long as it is not too hard to find. We recommend either the home page or a links/resources page. We periodically check for our link on your site so make sure it's not hidden. If we can't find it, we'll have to remove the link from your listing thus downgrading you to a Basic Listing.

I don't know how to add a link to my website myself and my webhosting provider charges if they do it. Check out our "Basic + info" Listing. A small one time fee will get you a webpage, 2200 character description and a link to your website.

 

Value and Premier Listings

I don't want to pay by PayPal or Google Checkout. Can I send you a check? We've done thousands of transaction through PayPal and Google with no problems. We don't take checks....if it bounces we're charged $25 and don't have much recourse to get it back.

Can I put a small description in place of an address on my Value Listing? Yes. If you'd rather skip on posting your address, just type in a small description (45 characters or less) into the address line on the form. As always, we reserve the right to edit for spelling, grammar and length. This also applies to Premier Listings. If you don't use an address then you basically have two lines of text to work with (90 characters).

How much does it cost to add listings in more than one area? Just depends on what you're looking for. We're flexible and inexpensive. Send us an email to the address below with your requirements and we'll respond with pricing.
